The word “gift” is defined as something given voluntarily without the expectation of payment in return. A gift is something that is not earned or paid for. If you have to earn it or pay for it, then it is definitely not a gift.
What is earned is called compensation, and what is paid for is called a purchase. The Gift Of Jesus Christ is neither earned or purchased.
