Passage: Luke 15:1-7

Preacher: Pastor Darrell Jackson

Series: A Right Now Word

Summary:

One of the most disappointing things about us as humans is our propensity to embrace caste systems, which allow us to assign significance to a person or a group of people based on how important or valuable we may think they are. In fact, in some parts of the world, it is common to separate people by distinctions of bloodline, profession or wealth. The parable of The Lost Sheep (Luke 15) provides a very clear illustration of the joy that emanates when one sheep which has strayed, is found by the shepherd who seeks him. Not only is the sheep found, but the shepherd rejoices and invites others to rejoice as well. Clearly, this story suggests the joy that should occur when the lost returns home. We are all equal in God's eyes. As believers, we must clearly understand that those who wandered away and then returned to the fold are just as important as though who never strayed. Alleluia! Rejoice! Everyone matters.
